Tymoshenko triggers committee to protest against Yanukovych's
policy
Bloc leader Yulia Tymoshenko wants creation of committees protecting Ukraine in all regions of the country to demonstrate the disagreement of public with the policy of President Viktor Yanukovych and to press for early elections to the Verkhovna Rada. She gave her position in an interview with the Fifth Channel on May 1.

In the opinion of the former prime minister of Ukraine, the current parliament is incapable of protecting the national interests of Ukraine. Consequently, the early elections to the Verkhovna Rada can be the only solution to the challenge, said Tymoshenko.
Tymoshenko said it is impossible to employ the resignation of 150 deputies of the Verkhovna Rada as the legal ground for disbanding the parliament, as this legal norm has been changed after 2007.
"If people understanding all challenges facing Ukraine have their say, I think Yanukovych won't have any alternative to declare the [early parliamentary] elections. This is the reason why we start to unite the society. We start creating committees for protecting Ukraine," she said.
According to Tymoshenko, the committees for protecting Ukraine will be supra-party structures without leaders. Their task will be coordination of efforts and actions of citizens.

The leader of the bloc applied to Ukrainians with an appeal to create these committees in each population center, at enterprises, and educational institutions.

Tymoshenko in her turn committed to refrain from criticizing any leader of the opposition forces, so as to consolidate the opposition into a united opposition.

"I am the first to say this in public and assume the obligation: you won't hear any bad word from me against any leader of opposition forces, moreover, you won't hear any word of disrespect against them. This is my public position, which is a part of the position on the protection of Ukraine today," said Tymoshenko.

In order to achieve consolidation of the opposition forces she called on leaders of opposition forces to forget about their ratings.

As earlier reported, Yulia Tymoshenko said the opposition cannot counteract the government without support from wide public.
