Canada's Wildfires as Perfect Climate Weapon
While the main attention on the Canadian #wildfires is concentrated on the smoke pollution in the US, the Russians also use them as climate weapons.
This explains why wildfires have increased significantly in both volume and frequency across Siberia, #Alaska, and the Canadian North over the last several years. Russia cannot melt the Arctic only along its coast to facilitate the Northern Sea Route (#NSR), as this creates a steep temperature gradient, leading to massive storms along the route, with waves reaching 5 meters high, which obstruct its use.
To neutralize the difference, Russians melt not only the Arctic within their borders and waters but also the US and Canadian Arctic by simply provoking wildfires, which, if persistent, radically change the climate in the Arctic.
Wildfires directly contribute to Arctic melting by releasing massive smoke plumes that drift north and deposit dark soot (black carbon) onto polar ice caps. Albedo change traps heat by absorbing solar radiation instead of reflecting it back into space, thereby accelerating Arctic thawing.
Many of Canada's fires are burning directly within or bordering sub-Arctic regions. Deep Peat burning destroys the thick, organic moss layer that acts as a natural refrigerator for the ground. Without this insulation, the underlying permafrost is directly exposed to summer heatwaves, causing the frozen ground to collapse and melt.
The extreme fire seasons in Canada have led to an increase in overwintering "zombie fires" which refuse to die even in winter. These fires smolder deep in the carbon-rich peat layers under the winter snowpack and reignite on the surface during hot, dry springs, creating an early-season melting loop before the typical summer fire season even begins.
This means that to stop climate change or the Russian climate war, it is necessary to treat "wildfires" as what they in fact are - the geophysical weather and climate weapons. This is a new type of war that must be countered by mobilizing all possible means.
The easiest way to counter Russia's vast weather and climate operations is to help Ukraine win the war against Russia and change not only Putin's regime, but deconstruct the evil empire into several independent states, focused on their development, not destroying the world.
As long as Russia controls Eurasia and the Arctic, any new politician replacing Putin, no matter how democratic and pro-Western he positions himself, will continue covert climate warfare.
