Тимошенко против каких-либо "круглых столов" с представителями власти

Экс-премьер Украины Юлия Тимошенко убеждена, что в сложившейся ситуации переговоры с властью не нужны - необходимо требовать отставки президента Украины Виктора Януковича и его окружения. Об этом «фрАзе» сообщили в пресс-службе «Батькивщины».

«Никаких переговоров с бандой, никаких круглых столов с ними. Только немедленная отставка Януковича и его окружения», - говорится в заявлении Тимошенко.

Тимошенко также обратилась к лидерам демократического мира.

«Каждый удар дубинкой "Беркута" по мирным украинцам на Майдане - это удар дубинкой по общечеловеческим ценностям, которые вы пытаетесь сделать основой жизни человечества. Я умоляю вас: действуйте!», - отмечено в сообщении.

«Остановите авторитарный режим в Украине финансовыми и визовыми санкциями, международными антикоррупционными расследованиями. В противном случае в Украине построят кладбище свободы. Действуйте!», - призвала Тимошенко мировое сообщество.

Еврореволюция, война кланов или спецоперация по захвату Украины?

В Украине сложилась любопытная  ситуация, когда недалеко друг от друга стоят два майдана – Евромайдан оппозиции  и майдан Партии Регионов.  И те, и другие утверждают, что они поддерживают европейскую интеграцию.  Где же тогда проходит аодороздел, не позволяющий договориться?

Раздел  традиционно проходит между русскоязычной частью Украины  и украиноязычной.  Есть разделение и по  линии  уровня доходов.  На «оранжевом» Евромайдане стоят  в основном те, кто хочет  свободно ездить в ЕС, на  Евромайдане Партии  Регионов - те, кто боятся, что перемены оставят их без куска хлеба из-за закрытия предприятий, экспортирующих продукцию в Таможенный союз. 

Именно об этих опасениях говорил Янукович в контексте подписания торгового  соглашения с ЕС, на которое  Россия обещает отреагировать закрытием своего рынка для украинских товаропроизводителей.  Янукович пытается  уладить отношения с Россией, чтобы не обвалить экономику той части страны, которая составляет основу его электората. 

«Оранжевый» Евромайдан мало  заботит  судьба промышленного востока страны. Обвал производства в результате российской торговой войны против Украины  ударит по промышленности и обвалит электорат Януковича.  Оппозиция готова на любые условия подписания соглашения  о торговле с ЕС, видя в этом помимо  очевидных долгосрочных плюсов в целом для страны также электоральные плюсы для своих партий.

К провокациям в Киеве причастны Клюев и Медведчук – Яценюк

Арсений Яценюк заявляет, что к разработке сценария столкновений у Администрации президента 1 декабря причастны секретарь СНБО Андрей Клюев и глава "Украинского выбора" Виктор Медведчук.

Об этом лидер фракции "Батькивщина" заявил в понедельник на брифинге в штабе Национального сопротивления, который разместился в Доме профсоюзов, сообщает "Интерфакс-Украина".

"За этим сценарием, по нашей информации, стоит Андрей Клюев, Виктор Медведчук и другие пророссийские, антиукраинские лица", - сказал Яценюк.

В свою очередь, лидер ВО "Свобода" Олег Тягнибок отметил, что по имеющейся у него информации, в столкновениях возле администрации президента были задействованы отряды "Беркута" из других регионов Украины.

"По нашей информации, это был смешанный "Беркут", в том числе Луганское подразделение, Днепропетровское", - сказал он.

Тягнибок также отметил, что в воскресенье у здания Администрации президента хорошо натренированные провокаторы имитировали нападение на администрацию, что дало якобы законные основания правоохранителям оказывать сопротивление нападающим.

"Власть применила своих штатных провокаторов, так называемых "титушек", "спортсменов", которые получат соответствующие награждения за их провокации в городе", - сказал Тягнибок.

Он также заявил, что около 5 тысяч таких "спортсменов" уже задействованы по Киеву.

"Только что поступила информация, что из Полтавы отправили еще 3 автобуса с хорошо натренированными провокаторами", - сообщил лидер "Свободы".

Виктор Янукович не дал санкции Генеральному прокурору Виктору Пшонке на арест Юлии Тимошенко. Эту новость сообщил censor_net, ссылаясь на источник из ГПУ, близкий к руководству.

Как считает таинственный источник, Виктор Медведчук до сих пор продолжает единолично контролировать большинство процессов в юридической сфере и хочет напомнить об этом Виктору Януковичу.

Принявший решение о задержании Юлии Тимошенко Печерский суд и сегодня контролируется приближенной к Медведчуку Портнову  Инной Отрош.

В аресте Юлии Тимошенко сегодня не заинтересованы ни президент, ни генеральный прокурор. Именно поэтому Виктор Пшoнка, не дожидаясь окончания допроса и решения следователя, а также в противовес решению суда, сделал заявление о том, что  Юлия Тимошенко не будет задержана.

As Ukraine confronts what has been cast as a “civilisational” choice between closer ties with the EU or Russia, the biggest question mark remains the country’s enigmatic president, Viktor Yanukovich, whose manoeuvring between east and west has confounded both sides.

At an EU summit in Lithuania next week, Mr Yanukovich will have the opportunity to seal a far-reaching association and trade pact that would open the path to much closer co-operation with Europe. "Тимошенко — абсолютно без перебільшень, символ політичних репресій, яким свого часу були, наприклад, Нельсон Мандела чи Олександр Солженіцин", - зазначив політтехнолог. "Ув'язнена екс-прем'єр-міністр України Юлія Тимошенко стала символом політичних репресій для західного світу".

Тому, за його словами, справа Тимошенко вийшла за межі України і стосується багатьох європейських політиків.

"Це вже не питання української влади. Є питання відповідальності політиків Європейського Союзу перед своїми виборцями, таких, як Ангела Меркель, яка фактично заприсяглася без вирішення справи Тимошенко не ухвалювати жодних позитивних рішень стосовно України", - наголосив Березовець.

 

Також він нагадав, що якщо західні політики, на відміну від українських, не виконують своїх обіцянок, вони добровільно складають свої повноваження та йдуть у відставку.

Raising the stakes of a Russian strangulation of Ukraine’s economy

Recent comments by high-ranking Russian officials on Ukraine’s imminent inclusion into the European unification process have led to a Russian-Ukrainian war of words, with some Moscow commentators reacting hysterically. 

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s official adviser on economic integration, Sergei Glazyev, said recently that Kyiv’s signature of a political and economic association agreement with the European Union on Nov. 28-29 will be “economic suicide,” a “surrender of sovereignty,” and a “violation of the Russian-Ukrainian Friendship Treaty on which the entire foundation of our relations is built.” 

Russia is seemingly preparing a whole battery of “reactive” measures concerning both its exports to Ukraine, above all in the energy sphere, and its imports from Ukraine, in a number of sensitive trade areas. 

Large sections of the Ukrainian economy are dependent on Russia. This concerns both the availability of Russian markets to Ukrainian producers, and the delivery of Russian raw materials, including natural gas, to Ukrainian companies and households. 

In its current difficult economic situation, Ukraine will be especially vulnerable to Kremlin pressure. Should Moscow use its considerable leverage to the full, the Ukrainian economy would be unable to withstand, and could go into a free fall, with grave social repercussions, including a likely rise of tensions between the Ukrainophone and Russophone parts of the country. All this would not bode well for the fragile Ukrainian state, and raise the specter of separation or even civil war.

(Reuters) - Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich pressed on with a legal move on Friday that could rule his biggest political challenger, world heavyweight boxing champion Vitaly Klitschko out of elections in 2015.

Yanukovich, under pressure politically from falling popular ratings, signed into law legislation passed by parliament last month to ban anyone who pays taxes abroad from claiming residency in Ukraine at the same time.Candidates for the presidency must have been resident in Ukraine for the 10 years preceding the ballot and the law is widely seen as having been aimed at ruling Klitschko - who has often trained and fought in Germany - out of the race.

Klitschko responded to the law's passing last month by formally announcing his run for president and his UDAR party responded defiantly on Friday, raising the prospect of a confrontation over the issue by saying the law could not keep him off the ballot.
"The authorities have no grounds to keep Klitschko out of the election," his spokeswoman said. "Vitaly Klitschko will run for president regardless of any amendments to the law."
UDAR, a pro-western liberal group founded in 2006???, also said passage of the law was marred by procedural violations but did not give details.
Yanukovich's main political rival, former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko, is serving a seven-year jail sentence for abuse of office. Western powers are seeking her release.
Polls show the 42-year-old reigning WBC heavyweight champion would be the strongest challenger to Yanukovich or a candidate backed by Yanukovich in the 2015 election if he made it onto the ballot.

KIEV (AFP) — The foreign ministers of Germany and Poland warned Ukraine Wednesday to end its chronic political feuding in order to receive more international assistance for its crisis-battered economy.

The unusual joint visit by Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany and Poland's Radoslaw Sikorski came as the European Union and Russia compete for influence in Ukraine, which saw its old pro-Moscow elite swept from power in 2004.

Steinmeier said Berlin and Warsaw were "particularly concerned" about Ukraine -- which has borders with four EU states as well as Russia -- as it faces a double-barrelled political and economic crisis.

"A political crisis clearly because the blockade in parliament and between the president and the government has dragged on so long, and of course an economic crisis that has hit Ukraine particularly hard," he told reporters.

The ministers, who arrived aboard a German air force plane, held talks with President Viktor Yushchenko, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and opposition leader Viktor Yanukovich, who are locked in a bitter power struggle.

Steinmeier and Sikorski said they hoped to persuade Ukraine's leaders to try to break their impasse to ensure the flow of international economic assistance needed for basic services including Russian gas.

Putin triumphs as U.S. is about to default

The story repeats the 2011 debt-ceiling crisis. The situation has changed since then – different straw men win straw polls, but the essence remains the same. The overwhelming 2013 United States debt-ceiling crisis is in full swing. The analysis shows that the crisis is caused not by economic fundamentals but by a full-fledged undeclared information war. As the situation shows, this is much more dangerous in the information era than traditional physical war.

Putin’s last-minute shot

Monday, at the moment when the agreement in Congress on the debt ceiling was finally reached, but the final result of the bill passing was still unclear, Vladimir Putin suddenly publicly depicted the US as “a parasite on the global economy.” The international media immediately spread the incendiary wording reinforcing the divide. The question is why Putin adds oil to fire at the most sensitive moment when the US is still on the verge of default?

There is a bipartisan agreement between the two American parties. But de facto, there is a third party - the Tea Party, which is still not inclined to give up. Their refusal to raise the debt ceiling potentially could break not only the world financial system based on the dollar but the existing world political system, where the US is the unique superpower. America's status is what irritates Putin the most. In his book, this status the U.S. retains due to the dollar’s dominance as the world reserve currency. The default would immediately deprive the US not only of the financial but of the political superpower status. Was this an encouraging message to the Tea Party?

Talk to real master, not shadow

Before the G-20 Summit Putin assured the world in the official interview, where he has not ruled out backing a U.S.-led military operation in Syria if the Kremlin gets concrete proof than an alleged chemical attack on civilians was committed by Bashar Assad’s regime.

 I would not doubt the sincerity of Putin’s intention. He bases all his prestige on the Soviet Victory in the WWII over the atrocious regime of Hitler, but now he finds himself and Russia on the side of the “Syrian Hitler,” using gas against his own people. Putin understands that despite his massive propaganda efforts, he will not be able to manipulate the public opinion for long. It seems he suddenly realized that there is a risk remaining on the wrong side of history.

For the West, the Kremlins condition is quite easy to satisfy, as there are enough proofs that only the Assad forces could conduct the chemical attack. However, the next day – a day before the Summit - Putin unexpectedly produced a U-turn, publicly named John Kerry a “liar” using a blatant manipulation. Putin’s sudden change of mind is the main intrigue of the G-20 Summit and deserves attention.

Failed Mega Deal

What happened in between? A day before, the Summit Putin had a pompous meeting with the Chinese leader expecting to sign a mega-deal for gas supply to China. Then, the top Chinese official stated that any military actions in the Middle East would lead to oil prices growth, what makes China reject the strike. As about advertised “mega-deal,” expected by Russia, it failed as Chinese continue insisting on a half-price of the price Russia is getting in Europe.

Moreover, a couple days before the Summit China has signed another mega-deal with gas-rich Turkmenistan, more than doubling gas exports to China. Next day after the Summit China struck $30 billion deal with Kazakhstan including the purchase of the $5 billion stakes in the giant Kashagan oilfield.  

Therefore, China is not in a hurry and can quietly wait, when Russia becomes totally isolated by the West and be ready for a slow technical takeover of Russia. China is not interested in investing in Russia, except big industrial project at the Far East with a precondition that the working force on this enterprises will be exclusively from China. As despite the high oil and gas prices, the Russian economy is sinking a bit earlier or later Putin will have to accept the Chinese proposition. This would mean a “forever concession” by China of Russia’s the Far East.

Russia’s Political Bluffing

Russia's dependence on China is growing what makes Putin nervous. Moreover, China increases its influence in the region, considered by Moscow its “legitimate sphere of interests” and gradually ousts Russia. However, Russia does not dare to complain.  Instead, it pretends to have a very special relation and a strong alliance with China as opposing to the failing relationship with the West. 

China routinely calls Russia a “major country” and lets Moscow fight its revisionist fights with the West. At the same time, China does not consider Russia, an equal partner.  On a Chinese official web page,  there are pictures of Chinese President Xi Jinping with American President Barack Obama, but there are no pictures with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This shows where the real China’s priorities are.  

At the same time, Putin’s dependence on China explains Putin’s U-turn.  Trying hard to please Chinese President, Putin reversed his recent declaration on possibly joining the international effort against Bashar Assad and did this by calling John Kerry a “liar.”

Upgrading Role for China

Putin’s unfortunate position, which he masks by massive propaganda efforts, promoting his image and ideology at the West, makes him useless as a negotiator on Syria.   China is the real master of the situation China.

From this perspective, the Chinese and the Western positions on Syria coincide but contradict to Russia's interests: maintaining the civil war in Syria is a precondition for high oil price, on which the entire Russian economy totally depends. 

China should realize that as soon as the situation in Syria is resolved the oil prices would inevitably go down. This could become a first international action, where China can demonstrate its political maturity and responsibility for stability in the World. 

Beijing could like this new role. China already follows the U.S. and the EU example, offering assistance to different countries. Cash-rich China can show real leadership by helping Syria after the war is over.

If the leader of China does think that the growth of oil prices is the only objection to the common action in Syria, the negotiations should be conducted with him, not with the politically impotent Putin.

Post-communist countries should have joined the European Union just after the collapse of their dictatorships, Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on Monday.
Had they joined then, the EU would be in a stronger position today, Orban said in a lecture at Helsinki University.

Orban, paying a one-day official visit to Finland, also said efforts to integrate Balkan countries into mainstream Europe should press ahead, he said.

A strong Europe requires strong nations, he said.

METROPOLITAN Hilarion of Volokolamsk, a bishop of the Russian Orthodox Church, recently expressed  hope that the new pope, Francis, will continue the policy of rapprochement with the Orthodox Church and will not support, what he calls the expansion of the Ukrainian Greek Catholics. “The union is the most painful topic in the Orthodox-Catholic dialogue, in relations between the Orthodox and the Catholics. If the pope will support the union, then, of course, it will bring no good," he said
The metropolitan is worried: it is said that the new pope has an affinity for the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC). So much so that one Russian commentator claimed that in Francis, “we have a Ukrainian pope”. This may worsen relations between the Orthodox and Catholic Church Greek Catholics.

Ukraine's president has pardoned two former government ministers, both allies of imprisoned former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko, moving towards fulfilling a key demand on Kiev's path to integrate closer with the EU.
President Viktor Yanukovych signed a decree to pardon former interior minister Yuri Lutsenko, 48, who is serving a four-year sentence on charges of abuse of office and embezzlement. Lutsenko's health has deteriorated since his arrest in early 2010, according to his supporters and doctors.
The move followed a recommendation from the presidential commission. Yanukovych also pardoned another Tymoshenko ally, the former environment minister Heorhiy Filipchuk, who was imprisoned for abuse of office.

President Viktor Yanukovich of Ukraine does not seem to think that a formal association with the European Union is worth the release from jail of the leading opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko. What should be the appropriate E.U. response?

The E.U.-Ukraine Association Agreement offers Ukraine substantial advantages. As negotiated, it includes a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement, which by opening the E.U. market for most Ukrainian goods and services would give a substantial boost to the country’s exports.

„Якщо ви навіть за кілька днів до запланованого підписання Угоди про асоціацію запитаєте, чи точно її  буде підписано – я відповім, що не знаю". Так  після недавнього саміту ЄС-Україна один чільний український дипломат змалював непевність ситуації.
Принагідно він нагадав історію понад десятирічної давнини,  коли вибухнули звинувачення у нібито постачанні Україною протиракетних комплексів „Кольчуга" Саддаму Хусейну.  Це остаточно загнало в міжнародну ізоляцію тодішнього президента Леоніда Кучму, над яким уже висіли підозри у причетності до вбивства Гонгадзе.
