Russia’s “August Curse": hidden motives behind Putin's diplomatic rush

Bilateral talks between Zelensky and Putin are a ritualistic fiction that allows Putin to derail sanctions, or at least postpone developments beyond August, as August is often a fatal month for Russia. Russians regard it with caution, even dread. Many speak in whispers of the 'Russian August curse,' a month when some of the nation’s most ominous events have unfolded.

From the failed coup of August 1991, which ended the USSR, to the financial collapse of 1998 that crippled Yeltsin’s presidency, and the dramatic events of August 1999 that ushered Vladimir Putin to power amid war in the Caucasus, the Kursk submarine disaster in 2000 and others ominous events, August have repeatedly proven to be Russia’s month of reckoning, when history bends sharply.

Putin has long been known for susceptibility to superstition and obsession with the occult, tendencies that grow sharper whenever Russia faces battlefield setbacks or economic strain, especially under the threat of sanctions.

Russian political culture has a history of mystics, magic, and ritualistic symbolism influencing leaders. Putin himself is said to make decisions according to astrology and numerology, seek ritual reinforcement, and frame geopolitical struggles in mythic terms. So, simply surviving August is a challenging task for Putin.

Moreover, there is a prediction that Putin will lose power in August, which makes him even more cautious. Therefore, after August is over, we can see a different, more aggressive Putin.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin justified the Nazis' actions, saying that the Poles being "uncompromising" over the ownership of Gdańsk forced Adolf Hitler to start the war with Poland in 1939. Poland is outraged by these claims.

 "After [WWII], this territory was transferred to Poland, and instead of Danzig, a city of Gdańsk emerged. Hitler asked them [the Poles] to surrender amicably, but they refused... [The Poles] went too far, pushing Hitler to start World War II by attacking them. Why was it Poland against whom the war started on 1 September 1939? Poland turned out to be uncompromising, and Hitler had nothing to do but start implementing his plans with Poland."

 Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski on Twitter: 

"It's not the first time the Russian dictator V. Putin blames Poland, invaded by the USSR on 17 [September] 1939, for the outbreak of WWII.
We are used to paranoid justifications for Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022. What’s shocking is that this time they are enabled by an American journalist."

Details: In his interview with Carlson, Putin once again outlined his vision of history. He claimed that it was Ukraine that started the war in 2014 and that Ukraine "created a threat to Crimea, which we had to take under our protection". According to the Russian dictator, in 2022, Russia did not start the war, but "tried to stop it."

Putin also said that Russia has not yet achieved its goals, among which he named "denazification" with "the prohibition of all kinds of neo-Nazi movements".

In his interview with Carlson, Putin also outlined other theses of Russian propaganda: that Ukraine was created by Lenin within the USSR, that nationalists collaborated with Hitler during World War II, that SS massacres were carried out, that "nationalism and neo-Nazism" allegedly exist and nationalists are glorified in modern Ukraine.

There is nothing strange about Putin preferring Biden to Trump. Joe Biden plays exactly into Putin's hands by depriving Ukraine of military aid. Despite having enough options to supply Ukraine with the necessary arms, Biden prefers appeasing Putin to win his support for reelection. 

The difference between Biden and Trump is that Trump talks about appeasing Putin, while Biden does appease Putin. The only preoccupation of Biden is to shift the responsibility for depriving Ukraine of military aid to Republicans to look good inside the country and abroad.  

Both Trump and Biden compete for Putin's favor as he possesses the "Golden share" in the American elections and could appoint the next president of the US as he did with two previous presidents by controlling the third-party candidates. 

"Минск-3" и психологический арсенал Кремля

Октябрьские переговоры в Нормандском формате  в Берлине, которые уже окрестили "Минск -3", и события вокруг них как нельзя лучше продемонстрировали "психологический арсенал" Кремля, котороый  он использует в борьбе против  Запада. 

Арсенал весьма эффективный,  если судить по результатам переговоров.  Путину удалось убедить европейских партнеров в том, что выборы нужно проводить до вывода российских войск и вооружения из Украины и до восстановления украинского контроля над границей, который, как пообещал Путин (всем известна цена его обещаний, но ему поверили) будет передан Украине на второй же день после выборов.

Как передал с места события корреспондент КоммерсантЪ  Колесников, обладающий доступом к телу если не Путина, то  Суркова,  Меркель несколько раз отводила в сторону строптивого Порошенко и после общения с ней он соглашался на все.  В итоге Порошенко удалось дожать. Он согласился на контроль за границей Миссии ОБСЕ, которую Путин в свою очередь согласился расширить.  Очевидно,  расширять ее Путин намерен  за счет российских военных, которые уже  контролируют Миссию наблюдателей ОБСЕ и замечены в передаче  разведывательной информации российской оккупационной армии ( в ее гибридном варианте). Любопытно, что с  подачи российской пропаганды эти гибридные подразделения -  ЧВК Вагнера - и называют "сепаратистами".

Было заметно, что Меркель торопилась закрыть вопрос с Украиной, удовлетворив требования Путина, чтобы поскорей перейти к вопросу о Сирии.   В сущности, в ходе переговоров произошет обмен Украины на обещания Путина по Сирию, чего давно  опасались. 

 Хотя, понятно, что Путин не собирается выполнять обещание. Более того, чем эффективней срабатывает  шантаж с возобновлением геноцида в Сирии, тем охотнее Путин будет прибегать к нему.  

Путину удалось смягчить претензии со стороны Меркель и Олланда по уничтожению мирных жителей Алеппо (выбить козырь у Меркель) простым фокусом  - накануне российская пропагандистская машина запустила дезинформацию о том, что якобы бельгийские  самолеты уничтожали мирных жителей. Всем ясно, что это неправда, но мозг человека устроен таким образом, что даже если на уровне рационального сознания он понимает, что это неправда, красочные картинки давят на эмоциональную сферу и неизбежно вызывают чувство вины.  

Именно этим подсознательным чувством вины, намеренно вызванным Путиным, объясняется также неспособность ЕС принять меры против России по Сирии.  Путин в отличие от Запада прекрасно знает, что эмоциональная сфера мозга гораздо сильнее влияет на принятие решение,  чем рациональная, которая как правило занята тем, что находит обоснование решению, принятому на основании иррациональных эмоций.  

В результате,  Путин одержал чистую победу над  европейскими лидерами, даже не прибегая к оружию. Если, конечно,  не считать намеренного запугивания  европейцев.  Акт запугивания  вызывает в сознании образы, сравниме по силе восприятия с непосредственно актом насилия, что и определяет какое решение будет принято. 

 Учитывая успешность применения психологического оружия, Путин и впредь  буде использовать его и одерживать победы, если не будут подробно проанализированы все задействованные механизмы это оружия и их воздействие на мозг. Ничего драматичного пока не произошло, так как  Минск-3 - это, скорее, попытка отсрочить развязку, но не решение проблемы.  

Ответственность за то, что Путину удалось протолкнуть свое решение лежит не только на европейских лидерах, но и на Украине.  Украина до сих пор четко не  сформулировала  свою позицию,  что ведет к неоднозначной позиции Запада  и облегчает Путину задачу манипулирования им. 

Пока не будет четкой позиции Украины о том, что речь идет о войне с Россией и российской оккупации, а не о "гражданской войне" или "внутреннем украинском конфликте" как подает это Путин (именно на этом ложном посыле основаны Минские соглашения), Запад не сможет ей помочь.

Пора четко дать понять, что никаких "сепаратистов" не существует. Есть российская оккупация региона и его колонизация, предусматривающая использования местного "человеческого материала" в войне с Украиной для снижения расходов и обеспечения нужной Кремлю трактовки событий.

Западные СМИ последние дни называли Моторолу "сепаратистом" (что было явно на руку Путину накануне переговоров), хотя он гражданин России и по определению российский оккупант. Его подразделения - это российская гибридная армия, а не мифические "сепаратисты". Местных жителей насильно заставляют служить в этих российских гибридных подразделениях.  Российские оккупанты постоянно  жалуются на то, что местные жители не хотят воевать против Украины, но этого почему-то никто не слышит. 

Украинские  и западные СМИ прордолжают тиражировать российскиме мифы.  Сам факт использования понятия "сепаратист", "боевик"  и подобные им определений. искажают суть происходящего.

Вопрос к Порошенко - почему до сих пор  не сформулирована позиция Украины, основанная на фактах, а не российском мифотворчестве? Создается впечатление, что Порошенко  намеренно подыгрывает Путину, используя его понятийный аппарат, который задает алгоритм развития событий  в нужном Москве  направлении.

Со стороны Путина - это  намеренная подмена реальной картины мира нужным ему суррогатом. Со временем, когда в результате массированной пропаганды большое количество людей начинает верить в этот суррогат, он превращается в реальность. Минские соглашения - это механизм по воплощению  сценария Кремля.

Еще один "подлог" был совершен Путиным пару месяцев назад, когда  стало очевидно, что и Запад, и украинское общество не принимают Минских соглашений, в силу осознания того, что они основаны на ложных посылах.

В этот момент Путин, кровно заинтересованный в исполнении выгодных только Москве Минских соглашений, внезапно  заявляет о выходе из Нормандского формата и отказе от Минских соглашений.

Посыл простой  - раз Путин отказывается от Минских соглашений, значит они выгодны украинской стороне и Западу, а не России.  Порошенко немедленно заявляет, что Украина никогда не откажется от выполнения Минских соглашений.

Запад нервничает, Шойгу стягивает войска к границе с Украиной.  Напряжение нарастает. Все начинают активно бороться за Минские соглашения, от которых недавно все отказывались.  Нуланд летит к Суркову, умоляет одуматься.  Сурков обещает, но Путин непреклонен.  Керри умоляет Лаврова, но тот ничем не может помочь.

И вдруг -  о, чудо!  В самый последний момент Путин соглашается принять участие в Нормандском формате.  Кульминация как в хорошей пьесе -  чувствется профессиональная рука профессионального драматурга Суркова.

В  результате и  украинское общество, и Запад с надеждой смотрят на Путина, который не иначе как решил пойти на уступки, раз все-таки согласился на переговоры.  И тут Путин в объятиях  обмякшей  от счастья  Меркель и Олланда  хладнокровно продавливает жёсткую  версию Минских соглашений, которая легитимирует российскую военную базу на украинской территории вместе со всеми российскими боевиками и подотчётной Кремлю колониальной администрацией.  Более  того, Украина берет на себя их финансирование и обязательство  обеспечить их  депутатскими мандатами в парламенте, тем самым блокируя  какую-либо возможность для интеграции с Западом.  

Порошенко берет с собой на переговоры Елисеева, который обязательно расскажет про его героические попытки  противостоять Путину и давлению со стороны Запада. Занавес опускается. 

Однако был еще третий подлог, без которого вся эта гениальная  постановка  была бы невозможна.  Для выполнения Минских соглашений нужна дорожная карта. Год назад Москва предусмотрительно вбросила эту дорожную карту через западного дипломата Мореля (знаменитый План Мореля) , ожидая. что украинская сторона не станет противиться западному давлению и примет его.  Однако противодействие элспертного сообщества было столь велико, что Порошенко ничего не оставалось как отказаться от Плана Мореля, объявив его частным мнением Мореля.

В этом году Москва провела работу над ошибками.  И вбросила свою дорожную карту  по исполнению  Минских соглашений  уже через само  украинское экспертное сообщество. Новый  "План Мореля" был представлен накануне  переговоров в Берлине под видом "Красных линий",  за которые Порошенко во время переговоров не должен заходить. 

 "План Мореля-2"  подписали   основные представители украинского экспертного сообщества, что должно было заблоговременно исключить их бунт против Минска -3.  Не буду останавливаться здесь на том, как удалось собрать подписи основных аналитических центров, которые год назад оказывали яростное  сопротивление Плану Мореля  - для этого у Москвы есть простые и действенные технологии.

Престижный  аналитический центр не только опубликовал "План Мореля -2", но и разослал его западным посольствам, давая понять  Западу, что эта дорожная  карта -  именно то,  чего хотят сами украинцы. Одним махом Суркову удалось заручиться  поддержкой  своей дорожной карты еще до самих переговоров как украинскими экспертами, так и западными политиками.

Слабость этой, безусловно, гениальной схемы в том, что  ее "деконструкция" может разрушить планы Кремля и вернуть ситацию к исходным позициям.  После переговоров Порошенко заявил. что выборы возможны только после вывода с Донбасса иностранных войск.

Вместе с тем, "Минск-3" не прошел зря. Он стал хорошим уроком как для западных политиков, так и для  Порошенко и украинского экспертного сообщества, которые были мастерски использованы  втемную гениальным драматургом Сурковым.

Putin's new diversion on the eve of NATO Summit

As it became known, a new meeting of leaders of "Norman Quartet" (Russia, Ukraine, Germany, France), Vladimir Putin, Poroshenko, Merkel and Francois Hollande could take place in early July, before the NATO Summit in Warsaw. The German newspaper Stuttgarter Zeitung writes, citing a source in the government. According to the publication, the preparatory meeting with representatives of the four countries took place last week. "Ideally, the meeting of Heads of State Summit to be held July 8-9 North Atlantic alliance to reduce tensions," - said the source.

But what is behind this plan of "tension reduction" taking into account that the pressure was carefully built till now as the main leverage for a peaceful blocking of Russian aggression?

Vladimir Putin can continue to lie and deny that Russian forces have invaded Ukraine, but he can no longer conceal that from Russians, Ukrainians or the West, a reality that means there is no way out except admitting defeat or acknowledging that he has invaded, neither of which Putin will do, or continuing on in the hopes he’ll get away with.  

it.According to Aleksey Gorbachev, the political observer of “Nezavisimaya gazeta,” “by his actions, the Kremlin has driven itself into the position of a ‘Zugswang,’” a term used in chess to refer to a situation a player faces “when any further step will only complicate [his] situation” further (ng.ru/politics/2014-08-28/3_kartblansh.html).

 “It is obvious that without massive military support from Russia, the militants cannot oppose for long the Ukrainian forces,” the commentator says, and consequently Moscow must provide it because “the defeat of the militants will be viewed as a defeat for the Kremlin.” But doing so will alienate Russians who don’t want to invade Ukraine and the West as well.

Polls show few Russians want to send the Russian army into Ukraine, and fewer still are going to want to as casualties from the invasion so mount among draftees and cannot be concealed from the population. And the West too, despite its reluctance to describe Putin’s actions as an invasion and thus his statements about it as lies, will also soon have little choice.

As the “Nezavisimaya gazeta” writer puts it, Putin may be able to win time by continuing to say things that are demonstrably false as he did in Minsk, but for him and for others, time is running out because what can no longer be concealed will ultimately have to be acknowledged if not by its authors than by others.

Moreover, he points out, Ukrainians know what is going on, and they are using the Internet to reach out to Russians to tell them what is happening and equally important what this means. In the words of Ukrainian poet Anastasiya Dmitruk, as a result of what has happened, “we will never be brothers neither by motherland nor by mothers.”

Western leaders have been less willing than Ukrainians or ordinary Russians to describe what Putin is doing accurately because if they do, they would have to acknowledge that the situation has changed and thus face demands that they respond. Putin probably hopes he can continue to intimidate them even as he is losing ground at home.

But as the world watches the Putin-directed Russian military invasion of Ukraine, these same leaders would do well to remember the words of Russian activist Aleksandr Genis earlier this month who pointed out that anyone who doesn’t condemn what Putin is doing shares responsibility with him (viknaodessa.od.ua/news/?news=98932#.U_R9OA3ylfs.faceboo

 Now that the Kremlin leader has openly invaded Ukraine, that has become more true than ever before.

Sochi’s Lozhkin-Ivanov Pact

Today, Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Borys Lozhkin had a meeting with Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation Sergei Ivanov in the city of Sochi.
In the course of the dialogue, the parties discussed a wide range of bilateral relations.

The parties agreed to hold a meeting in Normandy format at the level of Foreign Ministers of Ukraine, Germany, France and Russia in Berlin on August 17. The agenda and the range of issues that should be discussed at the meeting were also coordinated.

Head of  Administration of the President Poroshenko, Boris LOZHKIN held the separate talks with the head of the Administration of the President Putin, Sergei Ivanov. Results to be consolidated at a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Ukraine, Germany, France and Russia. Obviously,  format was imposed by Putin to avoid intractable to the Russians "Anglo-Saxons".

  The so-called "Normandy format" excludes from negotiations the European Union, which Putin also sees as one of the main enemies of Russia. The Normandy format excludes any influence of Poland and the Baltic countries, which, being on the front line with Russia, better than other countries of the West are aware of the threat posed by Putin’s regime.

Germany will be represented by a faithful putinite Frank-Walter Steinmeier, making part of the party of Gerhard Schroeder, who continues working for the Russian Gazprom. As latest developments how France's position is determined by desire to sell as many Mistrals to Russians as possible. Earlier, Putin promised to increase the order.

It is obvious that this format is not favorable for Ukraine, as it deprives it of support of the US, the UK and the European Union. Factually, Putin launches Dugin's project on the division of Europe and the marginalization of the United States.

Being businesspersons, both Poroshenko and Lozhkin rather are guided by business interests, agreed in the separate negotiations with Sergey Ivanov, not by the interests of Ukraine and its European and Euro-Atlantic future.

Such negotiation format is from the start flawed and unacceptable for both the Ukraine, US and the EU, since its purpose is to weaken the position of Ukraine and the West.

Moreover, through involvement in a separate deal Ukraine, France and Berlin, Putin is trying to split the West and launch a new format for potential World War III, with which he tries to scare Europe, using for this all controlled by him communications channels and mass media. 

Boris Lozhkin is not a random figure to negotiate with the head of Putin's administration. In 2012 he was decorated by the Russian Duma for promotion of the Russian world in Ukraine. Lozhkin was a founder and owner of tthe biggest (Russian language) media empire in Ukraine, which he gave up to Sergey Kurchenko, a would be Ukrainian oligarch (Kremlin project), who during last years concentrated in his hands the most important assets in gas and oil industry, in banking and media.

Putin's Secret Chemical War

There is a lot of fuss in the media about the new military prowess of Russia and the Russian “polite people”, who succeeded in a silent and bloodless occupation of the Crimea.  There are a lot of explanations for how Putin managed to do this – from Russian TV propaganda - Russia's psychological weapon, inducing psychoses in the local population, Putin's "dark art" of bribing local authorities, to cutting communications with Kyiv, and the psychological unpreparedness of the Ukrainian military to kill the Russians.  All of them make sense. But there is one more of Putin's "secret weapons" that went unnoticed.

Epic Russian video report  (produced to celebrate Russia's new military prowess)  demonstrates there is a reason to consider that the Russian special forces have used non-lethal chemical weapons while seizing administrative buildings and Ukrainian military bases,  banned in warfare under an international treaty- Chemical Weapons Convention.  

The video shows that while capturing Ukrainian soldiers in their military barracks, some of the Russian gunmen were wearing respirators. What for?  And why was the Ukrainian military so passive and easy to manage? The video also shows that, approaching the building, the Russian gunmen brought inside some heavy equipment. What kind of equipment could this be?

As this happened during the first operation, it explains a psychological shock caused by this magical seizure, affecting both the Ukrainian military and the Ukrainian authorities, which could explain their passivity.  Also, this should shape the public opinion from the very beginning of the Russian intervention in Ukraine, not opposing the invasion of Crimea. This supported Russia's propagandist mantra about "righting a historical wrong," meant to stifle the criticism of the 

Another video from teh surveillance cameras at the Council of Ministers building shows that, before the building was captured, the chemical substance was injected inside. The people in the video are absolutely passive without any sign of either shock or fear - just apathy.



In such a case, is this a sign of prowess or just a use of forbidden chemical weapons for stealthily incapacitating security officers and military personnel from performing their duties?

Documented use of non-lethal chemical weapons

Putin has a record of the use of chemical weapons during the Moscow theater hostage crisis, when 50 Chechens seized the crowded Dubrovka Theater on 28 October 2002, and a potent narcotic (a derivative of the opiate anesthetic fentanyl) was introduced into the ventilation system before Russian special forces troops stormed the theater.  It was designed as a non-lethal chemical attack, but when the troops burst into the main hall, they found the hostages and hostage-takers in a coma. As a result, 25 hostages died of overdose; the rest--more than 600--survived.

Last year, Russia was accused of supporting its Syrian ally, Bashar Assad, using chemical weapons for the massive killing of his own people. To prevent damage to his reputation, Putin managed to convince Assad to scrap the chemical weapons. This move rescued Assad from the US attack, promised by Obama for the chemical weapons use as a “red line” in his Syria politics, and elevated Putin's reputation. Later, for this move, Putin was nominated (or rather orchestrated this nomination) for the Nobel Prize.

But lately, the theme of chemical weapons use in Syria has arisen again. This time, this was about non-lethal chemical weapons:

At the beginning of April, an Israeli security source confirmed that the Assad regime had used a non-lethal chemical weapon at the end of March on the outskirts of Damascus. The source said he could confirm claims made by Syrian rebels and doctors last month that a substance had been used on rebel fighters in Harasta, an outlying region of the Syrian capital, adding that the chemical “neutralizes [threats] but does not kill.” 

Such synchronization of the chemical weapons use by Syria and Russia is quite remarkable. 

Putin's Big Secret

However, there is another remarkable coincidence - on the same day, Russia suddenly banned military and police from traveling abroad. What is the secret that Putin wants to hide?

The ban includes employees who have access to state secrets - parts of the military and the police, the Federal Drug Control Agency, the Federal Migration Service, the Federal Penalty Service, and certain employees of the Foreign Ministry. According to estimates, there are around 250,000 people.

The goal of the measure, according to LifeNews.ru, is to prevent leaks of secret information to foreign intelligence agencies that could use it to penetrate Russia.
Exceptions would be made in “exceptional circumstances” and for “good reason”. The duration of the ban remains unclear and, for the time being, is indefinite.

This means that Putin takes extraordinary measures to keep the use of chemical weapons a secret, especially after Putin's unexpected revelation at his press-conference at 17th of April that the silent “polite people” who seized Crimea without a shot were in fact Russian special forces.  

The same chemical weapons are used in the East of Ukraine – in Donetsk and other places, where the same Russian spetznaz has seized and continues to seize administrative buildings in the same “silent and polite” way.

“Doping of  Hitler” for  Russian terrorists

This is not the only use of psycho-chemicals in Putin's “hybrid warfare” against Ukraine. There is information that inside the Donetsk state administration building, there is a laboratory, where a special substance, pervitin, is produced every day and night. Later, it is served to the rebels, many of whom are criminals and drug addicts. This substance is known as a “power drug”, which “reduces fatigue, heightens aggression, and diminishes human warmth and empathy”.

  As Pervitin was used by Nazi troops to make soldiers fight longer and more fiercely, it is styled the “doping of Hitler”.  A pharmacologist from the German Doctors' Association explains :

"The blitzkrieg was fueled by Pervitin. The idea was to turn ordinary soldiers, sailors, and airmen into automatons capable of superhuman performance."

It seems Putin decided to actualize Hitler's secret weapon. It is not surprising that Hodorkovsky, visiting Ukraine recently, was not allowed to enter the Donetsk state administration building.  As one of the higher-ups of the rebels informed him: “There are patriots there and they are attuned for everything”.

In February, there was information about the Russian spetsnaz who lived in a resort near Kyiv during the Maidan: they were getting a special tea from their higher-ups, not from the resort, as reported by those who worked there. Some observers consider that this was the same spetznaz who killed Maidan activists later in February.  One of the captured in Donetsk separatists recognized that he was working in Kyiv during the deadly shootings of Maidan.

"Diplomatic dopings" and chemical incapacitants

Every result achieved in a war should be consolidated in diplomatic agreements. This is just another battlefield in Putin's hybrid war. One could notice that Sergey Lavrov does whatever he can to prolong the talks.  And it seems at the end of the talks he is not exhausted like other participants, but the opposite – he looks even more refreshed than at the beginning. 

Journalists noticed that Lavrov often leaves the negotiation room for a smoke. - as often as some journalists suggested that it is damaging for the superpower status, for wh­  ich Russia aspires. This could be just a sign of extra-agitation. Otherwise, nobody knows what Lavrov smokes. It is known that the result: a super diplomat always obtains what he wants, leaving the opponents confused.

It is not excluded that Lavrov also uses Pervitin. Not only German soldiers but Hitler and all the highest-ranking military officers in the Third Reich used Pervitin to increase resilience and mental abilities.  It seems that Moscow pays close attention to this aspect, developing new technologies to gain an advantage at different stages and levels of warfare, which Russia leads against the West.  

The wearing-out strategy itself is enough to successfully take advantage of exhausted partners during the talks. But after the latest diplomatic victories, it seems that Lavrov could use not only a doping drug for himself, but a kind of sedative for his partners, which should make them more prone to manipulation. Due to new technologies, just a capsule in his pocket is enough to achieve this result. The challenge here is not to overdo the final results of the talks to remain credible.

The practice shows that Putin himself used special effects during negotiations and has no psychological barriers to such approaches. Moreover, this is part of his basic skills as a former KGB agent.  And Putin doesn't even try to downplay his FSB affiliation. 

As psycho-chemicals break down resistance and make people vulnerable to manipulation, they can be used against the border patrols to access any administrative building or even the country if special security measures are not taken. And this is not only about Ukraine. Ukraine is just first in line. 

This hybrid war has presented entirely new challenges that the West should acknowledge and face. The new chemical weapons also demonstrate how far Putin is prepared to go to achieve his goals.
